Bounty Hunter by Kaylee Jarvis

Bounty Hunter completely surprised me—in the best way.

Vera is a Black Tulip, one of the most feared women in the kingdom, and she’s doing everything she can to stay hidden while surviving as a bounty hunter. When she takes a high-risk contract out of desperation, she ends up arresting the one man she absolutely shouldn’t… the High King himself.

And things only get worse from there.

What follows is a tense, forced-proximity journey through the forest with:
✔️ magic
✔️ secrets
✔️ slow-burn tension
✔️ enemies-to-lovers vibes
✔️ and a king who may not be the villain she thought

The chemistry between Vera and Ikar is SO good. The banter, the mistrust, the tiny moments of softening… it’s that delicious kind of slow burn where every glance matters. I loved that Vera is strong, guarded, and capable (not reckless or whiny), and Ikar is determined without being arrogant. Their dynamic carried the whole story.

Also—huge win for me—there’s no spice and no foul language, which is surprisingly hard to find in fantasy romance these days. It proves you don’t need explicit content to create real tension and emotional stakes.

The world building was intriguing, the magic system felt fresh, and the Black Tulip mystery kept me hooked the entire time.

Fair warning: it ends with a bit of a cliffhanger… but the kind that immediately makes you reach for book two.

If you love:
• clean fantasy romance
• slow burn
• enemies to lovers
• strong heroines
• reluctant allies on a dangerous journey

…you’ll probably devour this one like I did.

Definitely my favorite read of the month! I linked it here if you want to check it out.
