Shattered by Dani Pettrey

If you enjoy fast-paced Christian suspense with strong family dynamics and a touch of romance, Shattered keeps the action going — even if it wasn’t my favorite in the series.

This time the story focuses on Piper, whose fearless (and sometimes reckless) drive to find the truth draws her into a case that becomes very personal. With Landon helping her piece things together, they navigate one risky situation after another — and the wild Alaskan setting adds an extra layer of tension to every scene.

What I appreciated most was Piper’s passion for justice. She’s brave, loyal, and absolutely determined to find the truth no matter the cost. The suspense elements were strong, and there are several scenes that had me genuinely nervous for her safety.

That said… Piper also stressed me out a little.
She has a habit of racing straight into danger without backup, and there were definitely moments where I wanted to yell, “Girl, please wait five minutes and call someone first!”

The romance between Piper and Landon felt sweet and steady, but since their relationship was pretty predictable from book one, it didn’t grab me emotionally quite as much this time. I personally prefer a bit more tension or an enemies-to-lovers dynamic, so their story didn’t hook me the way Cole and Bailey’s did earlier in the series.

Still, if you enjoy:

  • protective-hero vibes
  • brother’s-best-friend romance
  • lots of action and investigation
  • clean Christian suspense
  • strong sibling/family bonds

you’ll probably really like this one.

Even though it wasn’t my personal favorite, it still fits well within the series and adds more depth to the McKenna family story. If you’re reading the Alaskan Courage books in order, it’s definitely worth continuing.

I linked it here if you want to check it out or complete the series.
